Summer Reading at the Big Pine Library branch is making a splash! Join us this June and July for Oceans of Fun at your local library. Each week will be packed with exciting activities, events, and plenty of chances to win prizes for reading.
How It Works: Start every week with a new Summer Reading Log, track your books, then turn in completed logs for prizes! For every four logs turned in, you unlock a special bonus prize! Can’t think of what great book to read next? Gain some inspiration from Summer Book Bingo! Complete the Bingo card to earn even more prizes! The more you read, the more prizes you win!
Every week the library is swimming with excitement! We’ve got arts and crafts, Ocean-themed story times, Outdoor Explorers, 3D printing programs, Pokémon club (water types encouraged), and weekly engaging programs and speakers! There is always something to do at your Big Pine Library this summer.
Kicking off our summer guest speakers is the ever-popular Ranger Katy from the National Key Deer Refuge on Saturday, June 7th. Dive into the fascinating world of Sharks with Dr. Rob Nowicki on Tuesday, June 10th. Come celebrate the Big Pine Library’s 30th birthday with YouTube singing sensation Patty Shukla on Friday, June 13th. Bahia Honda State Park swims in on Friday, June 20th. Come and hear all about Mote Marine on Tuesday, June 24th. Surf into July with storyteller Scott Campbell on Tuesday, July 1st. Come see the animals of the Monroe County Sheriff's Office Animal Farm with Farmer Jeanne on Thursday, July 3rd. Nature Nancy returns to our shores on Saturday, July 12th. Learn more about the history of the Florida Keys with Dr. Corey Malcom on Tuesday, July 15th. Take a trip with Didgeridoo Down Under on Saturday, July 26th. And cap-off an Ocean of Fun with Do Art Productions interactive comic book program on Monday, July 28th.
