1893 – Judge Angel Delono died. He was born in Santiago de Cuba on December 16, 1824. He came to Key West in 1878, and he served as Justice of the Peace and Monroe County Judge.


1909 – R.G. Ross completed rebuilding the jetty in the Northwest Channel.


1935 – Emory Lowe Pierce, Jr. was appointed superintendent of the Key West Tropical Aquarium. Pierce, a Key West native, had graduated from the University of Florida a week earlier with a degree in marine biology.


1939 – Merchants and residents in Key West and Marathon joined to prepare for the celebration of the first anniversary of the official opening of the Overseas Highway bridges.


1940 – A group of Key West women led by Mrs. George W. Allen and Mrs. William M. Monsalvatge were recognized for having knitted afghan blankets for the War Relief Committee of the English-Speaking Union. The afghans were used as wraps in British hospitals.


1966 – Monroe County Mayor Gerald Saunders and Key West Mayor Kermit Lewin cut the ribbon to open the new showroom for K-T Motors on Eaton Street.
