1946 – Key West Police arrested two men and two women for swimming nude at South Beach. The four nighttime skinny dippers were hauled – sans clothing – to the station in the “Black Betsy” wagon, and they would face a judge the next day.
1950 – Hurricane Easy passed to the west of Key West where the maximum winds of 72 mph were recorded.
1952 – The City of Key West became owner of Mallory Dock when Mayor C.B. Harvey presented a check for $25,000 to Gulf Atlantic Transportation Company.
1960 – Keys residents auditioned for parts in the movie “All Fall Down,” a portion of which was being filmed in Key West.
1986 – Spurred by overwhelming neighborhood opposition to the plan, the Key West City Commission denied a request for the conversion of the former St. Stephen Church building at 330 Julia Street into a restaurant.
