A person looks cross water at a ferry tied up at a pier.
Florida East Coast Railway, Key West Extension. A Havana railroad car ferry at the pier at Trumbo Point in the 1920's.

1894 – A hurricane that had traveled the length of Cuba passed over Key West, where winds were clocked at 104 mph. Only slight damage resulted.

1920 – Domingo J. Milord, Cuban Consul at Key West, issued a notice to building contractors that he would be accepting bids for the erection of a new San Carlos Club and School until October 9. Plans and specifications for the new building could be seen at the residence of Ramon Perdomo, 220 Duval Street.

1925 – Four stowaways were found hidden in the oil tank of the P.& O. railroad car ferry Jos. R. Parrott when it landed at Key West from Havana. The men, who claimed to have been born in Portugal, were expected to be sent back to Cuba.

1934 – Three officials of the Cuban Government inspected the San Carlos Theater and school to determine the repairs necessary to bring the building up to standards.

1935 – A team of engineers for the Florida East Coast Railroad were in Key West to determine the feasibility of removing one of the railroad ferry car terminal “aprons” and transporting it to Port Everglades. The ramping device was quite large and heavy; perhaps too much so to be moved.

1955 – Gardner Cowles, president of Look Magazine, and his associate, David Salzman, bought a 182-acre tract of land on Cudjoe Key for $83,000.

1975 – The newly-formed Monroe County Commercial Fishermen’s Association held a meeting at the Marathon High School cafeteria to enroll members and elect officers.

1999 – The USCG Cutter Barbara Mabrity was in Key West for the weekend. The ship was named for the woman who had kept the Key West Lighthouse for 38 years.
