1984 – Harry Knight won the Democratic primary race and was automatically reelected as Monroe County Tax Collector. Other winners were Circuit Court Judge Richard Fowler, Public Defender Rand Winter, and School Board Member Dr. Geraldine Caron.

1960 – Monroe County Supervisor of Registration Wm. “Billy” Freeman reported a total of 16,027 registered voters – the most in county history. Of those, 15,407 were Democrats, 516 were Republicans, and 104 were registered as Independents.

In 188, Dr. Lemuel Walter Livingston became principal of Key West's Douglass School - and the island's first Black physician.
