The Islamorada Public Library will be closed Monday, January 1, 2018 for the New Year’s Holiday. We will reopen Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at 9:30 AM. Have a safe and Happy New Year!

Food for fines

It’s that most magical time of the year–Food for Fines. Drop off non-perishables at the library now through Christmas Eve to waive your overdue fines. Local food banks are replenished, bellies are filled, library accounts are cleared of pesky overdue fines, everyone is filled with holiday cheer.

Holiday hours

The Libraries are festive with decorations and programs celebrating this holiday season. But be sure to visit us soon, as we will be closed Monday, December 25th, and Tuesday, December 26th, reopening at 9:30a.m. on Wednesday, December 26th.
For the New Year’s holiday, we will be closed Monday, January 1st, reopening Tuesday, January 2nd at 9:30 a.m.
No library materials will be due during these holidays.
Whether you’ve been naughty or nice, we wish you a joyful holiday season and look forward to serving you in the coming year.

Music in the Palm Garden — Jan. 10th at 6PM

Save the date and join us for our first Music in the Palm Garden Concert on January 10th at 6PM. FREE and open to the public.
Our first concert marks the return of folk duo Hungrytown from Vermont.  Their music has received extensive radio airplay worldwide and has appeared on several television shows, including Comedy Central’s The Daily Show, IFC’s Portlandia and Netflix’s Lady Dynamite. 
This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Key West Public Library.

The 2018 Friends of the Key West Library Lecture Series

Programs take place on Monday nights from January 15 through March 19 at the Key West Theater, 512 Eaton Street. Admission is free and seating begins at 5:30 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis with the programs starting promptly at 6:00 p.m.

January 15: Teju Cole is a writer, art historian, and photographer. He is the author of four books, including the novels Open City and Every Day Is For The Thief. He is the photography columnist at the New York Times Magazine, and has had gallery shows in several countries.

We give thanks

The libraries will close at 6pm on Wednesday, then remain closed Thursday and Friday, November 23rd & 24th for Thanksgiving.  Library staff will be joining the Keys community in giving thanks for life’s abundance.
Libraries will reopen Saturday, November 25th at 10 a.m.

Veterans’ Day–Library Closed

 
 In observance of Veterans’ Day, the libraries will be closed on Saturday, November 11th . We join with the Keys community in honoring the brave patriots who fought for our country.
Libraries will reopen Monday, November 13th at 9:30a.m.
