Free 8-week Short Story Workshop — “Writing on the Autograph Tree”

The Key West Library  is offering a free 8-week Short Story Workshop titled “Writing on the Autograph Tree,” led by author Edgardo Alvarado-Vazquez (The Funerals of Key West and Don’t Read This Poetry Book).  Participants will meet every Wednesday, June 7th through July 26th, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm to discuss and work on their short story.  All participants must be 18 years old or older and must present a copy of an original writing before the first session.  For more information or to reserve your seat, call 305-292-3595.  …

The public is invited for this special program which includes readings from the works of departed Guild members C.S. Gilbert, Lionel Valle, Capt. Edwin (Blinky) Crusoe, Howard Matthews and Carolyn Wonson. Key West celebrity poets Tennessee Williams, Elizabeth Bishop, Robert Frost, Shel Silverstein and others will also be featured.

Poetry Workshop in the Palm Garden — Mar. 13-17 9:30a-12:30p

This workshop is geared to anyone interested in writing new poetry, regardless of experience or publication history. Each workshop will consist of: reading established poets’ poems for inspiration (and to invite the spirit of writing to our group); presentation of prompt(s); time to write; time to share what we have written; time for discussion/field questions regarding craft and/or po’-bis’ (the business aspect of poetry–publishing one’s work, organizing a reading, etc.).
