Holiday and Other Library Closures

Please note: The Library will be closed Thursday, November 23rd and Friday, November 24th for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Also, due to the installation of a new A/C unit, the library will be closed on Monday, November 27th and Tuesday, November 28th.
We do apologize for the inconvenience.

Author Event with Martin Wilson — TONIGHT, November 9th at 6PM!– at Books & Books at the Studios

PLEASE NOTE: THIS EVENT WILL BE HELD AT BOOKS & BOOKS AT 533 EATON STREET.
Martin Wilson is the author of What They Always Tell Us, which won the Alabama Author Award for best young adult book, and was a finalist for a Lambda Literary Award. His short stories, essays, and book reviews have been published in One Teen Story, Tin House, Rush Hour, Publishers Weekly, Austin Chronicle, and other publications. His newest novel ,We Now Return to Regular Life, was published in August.

Reference Department Closure

Due to construction starting on August 18th,  the Reference Department and all library programs will be unavailable through the process of renovation.   We have 20 minute computers available at the front desk with full printing capabilities.  We apologize in advance for any inconveniences caused, but we are enthusiastic about the upcoming improvements to our library!  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call us at 305-292-3595.

Due to construction starting in mid-August,  some library departments and services will be unavailable intermittently through the process of renovation, which is expected to last for several months. Acclaimed novelist Mark Powell — July 5th at 6pm!

Mark Powell has been called the “best Appalachian novelist of his generation” by Ron Rash, and a writer “on the verge of greatness” by Pat Conroy. He is the author of five novels, including his latest, Small Treasons, which David Joy, author of Where All The Light Tends To Go, says, ” achieves that rare balance between complexity and pacing, a story rich and intricate, propulsive and satisfying.
