About the band:
Pia Leinonen, originally from the arctic region of Lapland, is Vellamo’s lead singer. Her exquisite voice combines her love and vast knowledge of Finnish folk music with the western singer–songwriter tradition in a unique and beautiful way.

Poetry Workshop in the Palm Garden — Mar. 13-17 9:30a-12:30p

This workshop is geared to anyone interested in writing new poetry, regardless of experience or publication history. Each workshop will consist of: reading established poets’ poems for inspiration (and to invite the spirit of writing to our group); presentation of prompt(s); time to write; time to share what we have written; time for discussion/field questions regarding craft and/or po’-bis’ (the business aspect of poetry–publishing one’s work, organizing a reading, etc.).

Classical Music Concert: This Wednesday, February 1st at 7PM

Key West Public Library is pleased to host a performance by The Cremona Trio, on Wednesday, Feb. 1, at 7 p.m.
The trio, violinist James Gaskill, former Concertmaster of the American Philharmonic at Carnegie Hall, cellist Shana Sear Gaskill, performer at the famous Lincoln Center, and pianist James Fogle, Ph.D. in Music from the University of North Carolina, will perform works by Beethoven, Corelli, and Mendelssohn.  This free event is open to the public. Civil War Living History Event  – Feb. 2nd from 11am to 3pm

The Key West Library and the Florida Keys Reenactors Society are pleased to present a Civil War Living History event on
Thursday, February 2nd  from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Step back in time and learn about blacksmithing, artillery drills, and the chemistry of black powder.  Presentations will also include
the fashion of the era and information on what Civil War Soldiers carried in Soldier Kits.  This event is free and open to the public and
will be held in the Library Palm Garden.
