pic9Video games in a library?! Yes we have brand new and popular games in the library. Many of the games that we have here at the library are multiplayer games that encourage team work and leadership. Yes, you can play video games at home, however here at the library kids are given a chance to interact in person with others that share similar interest, these social skills are very important. With all that fun our kids don’t realize they are actually developing some very important learning strategies. Some games (especially Nintendo games) challenge kids on their reading, mathematics, and critical thinking skills. Also games are a great way to relieve stress.

Dance Fitness for kids Saturdays at 1:00

Call it dance. Call it exercise. When kids move to music, they call it fun! An activity session for boys and girls 6- to 12-years-old, they get the chance to be active and jam out to their favorite music.  We break down the steps, add games, activities and cultural exploration elements into the class structure. Dance Fitness helps develop a healthy lifestyle and incorporate fitness as a natural part of children’s lives by making fitness fun.

Parents are encouraged to join!

The Key West Library needlework group meets at 3 p.m. every Saturday in the Library Conference Room. It’s a gathering of people who knit, needlepoint, embroider or generally do any form of needlework. The library has lots of resources available for the beginner and advanced needlework enthusiast alike. And don’t worry, members of the group are generous with their advice and support. If you have any questions, feel free to ask one of the library staff members. We are always happy to help any way we can!
