Meeting of the City of Key West Department of Transportation July 27th 5:00 p.m.  The City of Key West Department of Transportation (KWDoT) provides many services to the community, visitors and our internal customers, which consist of over 400 city associates.   The service areas or functions that KWDoT is responsible to provide are public transportation and the Park N Ride Garage.  Office hours are Monday – Friday, 8 am through 5 pm. REEF will be conducting a series of completely FREE Lionfish Collection and Handling Workshops followed by collection dives!  At the workshop, you will learn how to safely collect and handle lionfish, and then we will go out as a class to practice your skills on a lionfish removal dive.  Practice alongside professionals so you can help control the lionfish invasion every time you dive!  Experienced and novice lionfish collectors are encouraged to attend.  The workshops will also include background of the invasion, biology/ecology of lionfish, impacts, and current research findings. …

Toddlers story and craft hour

Join us for stories, songs, crafts, and fun at the Big Pine Key Library.  This week’s story is “My Garden” Kevin Henkes (Author, Illustrator). The girl in this book grows chocolate rabbits, tomatoes as big as beach balls, flowers that change color, and seashells in her garden. “In my garden, rabbits wouldn’t eat the lettuce because the rabbits would be chocolate and I would eat them.” Jelly beans would grow on bushes. Tomatoes would be the size of beach balls, but “carrots would be invisible because I don’t like carrots!” …
