One of the unheralded media stories of the Great Recession has been the rapidity with which Americans have embraced simple living. We’re reclaiming frugality as a value while questioning the reckless consumption of the recent past. We’re eating more healthfully, taking up gardening and selecting smaller, more eco-friendly living spaces.
Coming up, the libraries will be closed on our usual days: Sunday and Monday. In observance of Independence Day, the libraries will also be closed on Tuesday, July 5.

We join with the Keys community in honoring the brave patriots who fought for our country’s independence. Hope to see you at the local parades, picnics, fireworks displays, and all the festivities that make this holiday so neighborly.

To commemorate the Memorial Day Holiday, all Monroe County libraries will be closed Tuesday May 31st, 2011.
