I’ll be visiting the Keys, do you offer Internet access?

Posted Apr 7, 2010 Posted by 14 Comments

Yes! We offer free Internet and free Wi-fi access at all library locations. The Wi-Fi is wide open, so no password nor special gymnastics needed to connect. The library PCs provide internet and word processing service and are available to residents and visitors on a first-come, first-served basis.  Visit the location closest to you to connect!

The Key west branch has little knowledge of internet access using your personal laptop within the library. I hope this gets corrected soon.

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about this deficiency. Please contact me at anner@keyslibraries.org to provide more details of the problems you were experiencing with access so we can work on this. Thanks again for your time and interest.

I had difficulty connecting to the Wi-Fi at the Marathon Public Library. It said it required a password or WEP key or something of that sort.

I’ve seen others using the Wi-Fi, so I’m sure it works, but I’m usually multi-tasking when I’m there, and have not yet had the chance to ask about this. It’d be nice if there were a sign(s) in the library advertising this information if it’s open-access.

    Thank you!

Thanks for writing! Our public Wi-Fi remains wide open and available without a password. Double-check that your device is connecting to the network called MC-Public.

I would like to view an online seminar in the time frame this Saturday the 9th between 3 and 6 PM. Is the library open and if not is the WiFi working at this time? (I could sit outside.)

    Thank you, Joe

    Joe,
I’m so sorry that I didn’t answer before Saturday. Did you get to view your webinar at the library? We have library hours posted on a number of spots on the website, but the most detail is under the “Use the Library” drop-down to the “Locate Libraries” link.
    Best wishes,
    Anne

I just purchased a nook color. Do you have books available to borrow or are affiliated with another public library that offers the service. I am library card holder.

Our family will be in the Keys this winter. We homeschool our children and are wondering if it’s possible to use the library on occasion to do homeschool. With our younger child, we do need to talk through the lessons; so weren’t sure if there is a meeting room or cubbies available so as not to disturb others using the library. Thanks.

    Hi Julie,
We look forward to your visit! Which library will be closest to you? I’ll be sure to forward on your question to the right library, as space and resources vary from location to location.

Hi, does the library at Big Pine Key have a printer available to use with the computer? I need to print some documents & do not know where I may do so. How much is the cost? Thanks!

I will be visiting Key West next week (3/13 – 3/18) and see that the Key West Library has wireless access. (Yeah!). Do you the capability to print from your computers there? I am a college professor and need to download and print final exams to grade while I am there! I assume if you do have the capability that there would be a cost. How much would that be?

    Thanks!

  • Anne said:

    Hi Becky,
We do offer printing, but only from our public PCs. No printing via wi-fi, yet. Our PCs are free and available first-come, first served. Cost to print is $0.10/page.
We look forward to your visit!

Is it possible to use Skype in your library?
    Thank you, Lenka

  • Anne said:

    Hi Lenka,
Thank you for your question. While Skype is not available on the library’s public PCs, you’re welcome to use the Wi-fi with your mobile device. The Wi-fi signal even reaches the Library Palm Garden–a lovely place to Skype!
    Best,
    Anne
