Request books from the mainland
If you would like to borrow a book or item that our Library does not have available for checkout, you can request it from another Florida library, right through our library catalog. The Interlibrary Loan department will make every effort to obtain materials that are not available in our catalog from another Florida library. Once we locate the item, and the lending library has it available, it will be loaned for a limited time period.
Interlibrary loan requests are limited to 3 outstanding requests at one time to library members with no items currently overdue and no excessive fines.
To get started: Open this page and select FloridaCat from the “Using” drop-down menu. Search by title or author. (Click the “Add to Pending Results” button to retrieve all the matching records.) Click on your desired book from the results list. Confirm this is the item you want, then click “Request This”. You will be prompted to log in with your username and password. (By default, your username is the 14-digit number on the back of your library card and your password is the last 4 digits of the primary phone number on your library account.)
Choose your Pickup Library and click Submit Request. Read the confirmation message and click Continue. You will now see the progress of your request from your My Account page.
A few notes about InterLibrary Loan: Most libraries will not loan new (less than 12 months since publication date) or popular materials to other libraries. Genealogy materials, DVDs, and audiobooks are seldom loaned. On occasion, a documentary or education video will be supplied by the loaning library.
We welcome your suggestions for purchase of new materials. Please open this page to suggest a purchase.
